Shellburg Falls

Bit of a grind getting up here on a hot day. These views are typical of what you will find in the western Cascades. The trail takes you behind the falls.  Erosion removes layers of volcanic ash from between alternating slabs of basalt, creating covered ledges  that support walkways behind the falls. 

Light in the water is from the late afternoon sun.
