Cliff Homes

Note the considerable slumping of these seashore cliffs. These homes are at significant risk from erosion of their footings by rain and wave action during big storms. 

The cliffs comprise layers of weakly cemented sandstone (as suggested by the ease with which people carve their names and slogans into the soft material) interbedded with even softer volcanic ash.
