Heading Out - and Up

Part of our group grinding up the trail. Actually, it was very easy until the final ascent - which we avoided.

The Trail Not Taken

An optional leg of the trail ascends a volcanic feature at about 30 degrees. Owing to the heat and no wind at all we decided to turn back at this point. The anticipated "Death March" didn't happen.
